This past week, UPS delivered something that I've been waiting for for quite some time. I preordered this item with Sideshow Toys way back in February 2012. The BOX finally showed up, and it was massive!
This is Hot Toys 1/6 scale 1989 Batman movie Batmobile. The 1989 Batmobile is my favorite version of Batman's ride, just edging out the 1966 TV Batmobile. So, when Hot Toys announced they were doing my favorite car in sixth-scale, I jumped on it and didn't look back.
The car was very well-packed and included a plastic "shield" to simulate the point in the film when Batman leaves the car and instructs it to protect itself with shields. This is just a foam-padded vacuum formed piece of plastic but it does it's job and looks decent doing it. Mine will live in the car's cardboard box in the garage, though.
This car is HUGE. It's actually large enough to sit TWO 12" action figures. Pictures don't really do a good job of conveying just how big this car is. Speaking of pictures, you'll have to excuse the semi-grainy cell phone pictures. I had planned on shooting this with my SLR but it's just so big and unwieldily that I just decided to use all the cell phone pics I took just for fun. I'll probably do a nice photoshoot with this car within the week to show off all the little features and what-not. For now, this is just a "taste."
The process of unpacking. My jaw about dropped when I opened the box. This thing is beautiful.
The car's underside even has nice detail.
Here's a couple of pics of the Hot Toys 12" Keaton Batman with the car. He was pretty excited.
The front and rear tail lights light up nice and bright. There is also a light in the jet engine to simulate the effect of fire. Very cool!
The dash even has lights!
Here are a few comparison shots for scale. In this first pic, the Hot Toys Batmobile is shown with the Hot Wheels 1/18 scale diecast metal 1989 Batmobile.
This next shot shows the Hot Toys car with a quarter on the canopy.
This is the Mattel Batman Unlimited 6" Penguin checking out Batman's car and trying to figure out how to turn it into an "H-Bomb on wheels."
And finally, here is the Super Friends Batman figure just hanging out by the back tire.
This is where the new GIANT Batmobile will reside... in the corner of the studio with some other Bat-items from my Batman collection. I'd love to have this under a glass case or something but it should be easy enough to dust regularly.
I'm so glad I took the "plunge" on this version of the 1989 Batmobile. This is something that I will enjoy immensely every day I come down to the studio to work.

Nice!
That thing is huge!
Is that a custom built shelf for it?
The shelf is from Lowes. It's a heavy duty shelf that will hold up to 250 lbs. I have the supports mounted more closely together than how it should be but it works just fine. I was very happy to find out that the shelf is the perfect size and also goes very well with the Batmobile (and Batman, in general) with its black and gunmetal grey color scheme.
That is one serious shelf! That is one amazing Batmobile, glad you posted it. I bet it's strange actually seeing a 1/6th Scale Batmobile up close, but strange in an exciting way.
OMG! It's a mini version of the real thing. That is possibly one of the coolest Batmobiles I have ever seen. I am green with envy right now.
curious I got mine today your right it's awsome I visited someone else's a few day's ago an the stand made the batmobile rotate so I was wondering if it does or how he made it rotate on the video.
Thanks
That is an awesome piece! Love the Batman display you have up.
Holey second mortgages, Batman, that thing must have cost a mint! Probably worth more than the real car I drive hahaha!
LOVE it!
This is definitely the best 1/6 1989 bat mobile so far..Drooling!!
Thanks for stopping by, Everyone!... and thanks for the comments.
Michael, I'm not sure how you would make the Batmobile spin. It's definitely not a feature of the car. I know once it is propped up, you can spin it manually. I assume that the one you saw was on some sort of electric turntable or something.
Finally the superhero thing is here, its design is magnificent but it seems to be a bit bigger.Friends have a look at this one which i just came across, this one is great at and my kid really loves to play with this one.Hope so that you will also love to have one these.Check for this in over here "https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1344682921/modarri-cars-feel-the-road".
